How To Clean A Home Coffee Maker
Cleaning Your Coffee Maker
- Step 1. Lets start with selecting a quality product like Urnex Coffee Maker Cleaner.
- Step 2. Fill your coffee pot or pitcher with water and pour it into your coffee maker, make sure you put your coffee pot back under the brew basket.
- Step 3. Pour 1 packet of cleaner into the coffee pot and place the coffee pot under the brew basket.
- Step 4. Turn your coffee maker on and let’s brew plain hot water into the coffee pot.
- Step 5. The hot water will activate and mix with the cleaner in the coffee pot.
- Step 6. Swish it around or mix it up with a utensil, now pour the cleaner back into the coffee maker.
- Step 7. Let the cleaner sit in the coffee maker for 10 minutes while it cleans the receiving pan.
- Step 8. Turn the coffee maker on and let it brew the mixture into the coffee pot.
- Step 9. Let the cleaner sit in the coffee pot for 10 minutes, now clean the coffee pot with a Cleaning Brush.
- Step 10. Dump the cleaning solution into your sink and rinse your coffee pot thoroughly.
- Step 11. Now we want to repeat Step 2 and clean out the coffee maker, brew water through at least twice to clean out the coffee maker.
Disinfecting Your Coffee Maker
- Step 1. Let's use 1 cap full of Hydrogen Peroxide and pour that into your coffee pot or pitcher.
- Step 2. Fill your coffee pot or pitcher with water and pour into your coffee maker.
- Step 3. Make sure your coffee pot is now under the brew basket.
- Step 4. Turn your coffee maker on and let's brew into the coffee pot.
- Step 5. Now we want to repeat Step 4 and clean out the coffee maker, brew water through at least twice to clean out the Hydrogen Peroxide.
Not Recommended For Cleaning
- Vinegar: Although this product can be used as a disinfectant, it would take a very large dose and be minimally effective. Also, it will not clean your coffee maker however it will make your home smell awful.
- Bleach: This product is widely misused and is highly toxic. You should never pour bleach into your coffee maker, it is much safer to use a recommended coffee maker cleaner.
